Strengthening the sustainable apparel service offering at Anthesis - Part 1: Lavola

15 April 2019
In this 3-part series, we discuss each of Anthesis' 3 acquisitions of 2019 through the lens of the relevant skills, tools, and projects of each company for our textile and apparel clients. The first installment in the series highlights Lavola, the leading Spanish sustainability consultancy.

An Exciting Acquisition

Lavola Anthesis

In February 2019, Anthesis Group joined forces with Spanish sustainability leader, Lavola. Our collective offering has created a sustainability powerhouse of more than 450 experts across 14 countries. As part of this merger, we have extended our global footprint across Spain, Andorra and Colombia.

Lavola aligns with many of Anthesis’ core activities, with deep expertise in carbon and energy management, waste and resources, analytics and strategy work. In light of this, we are delighted to share the news with our existing apparel and textile clients, as this merger has substantially grown our rapidly expanding sustainable apparel offer.

The Impact for Our Apparel Services

With partnerships across Europe and beyond, Lavola’s apparel team delivers a range of services to fashion brands and retailers from materiality assessments, to sustainability reports, to carbon offsetting projects. Lavola work with some of the main apparel brands in the Spanish market including Desigual, Mango and others.

Desigual_logoLavola has supported Barcelona-based fashion brand Desigual on various projects since 2011. Their work for Desigual includes delivering energy audits, calculating the company’s carbon footprint, and developing its carbon management plan. More recently, the team carried out a Life Cycle Assessment on a dress from Desigual's 2018 collection.

In addition, Lavola has delivered Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) reports for Spanish private equity textile group Antex, which focussed on their dyed fiber. They provided the group with technical assistance in obtaining the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certificate for Antex’s recycled textile fiber in 2015.

Lavola also has experience in implementing education and awareness projects relating to the uptake and use of second-hand clothes, as demonstrated by their work for Spanish NGO, Humana.

2019's Acquisition Trio

This exciting M&A announcement is one of three for Anthesis so far this year, succeeding the acquisition of GoodBrand and MADE-BY assets, both of which have strengthened our sustainable apparel knowledge and expertise. As part of this three-part blog series we will be providing our apparel clients with further information on how the acquisition of GoodBrand and MADE-BY assets has enhanced our offering through building on our existing sustainability tools, broadening our services, and expanding our pool of expertise to help us support our clients as a trusted adviser and delivery partner.
